Koh Mak is a tiny island with little infrastructure, no large resorts, and some of the most beautiful water and healthy ecosystems in the country. There are SCUBA diving and snorkeling trips, as well as trips to neighboring islands like Koh Kradat to see a small deer herd that lives on the island, or to the national park Koh Rang for stunning views and amazing sea life. You can easily get a kayak from most resorts on any beach you visit and be able to reach some nice reefs to either jump in or just view the schools of fish from your kayak. A kayak trip or short boat ride will also take you to the famous Ko Kham where you can see an unfinished high end resort be reclaimed by the jungle while enjoying a small beach concession stand and amazing snorkeling right from shore. Fishing and snorkeling trips are also available through your resort or the tour agent Ao Soun Yai beach. Recommendations would be to stay in the Ao Kao beach or Ao Soun Yai beach areas which will at least give you a few options to go eat or find a massage shop/convenience store and have great beaches with snorkeling from shore. The map below will highlight the specific restaurants and hotels that we have stayed in the past that we would recommend. 3-4 days will give you plenty of time to experience the whole island.
